Our customers at Waitrose know what they want, and when and where they want it. It’s what our distribution operation is all about. It’s a large and complicated task, only possible through the dedication and hard work of our distribution teams. And it’s where our LGV Drivers come into their own.
As much as it’s about getting our goods from A to B, our fleet is also a very visible part of our brand. When it comes to deliveries, our Drivers are the face of Waitrose & Partners, so by joining us you’ll be acting as a brand ambassador. You’ll achieve this not only through respectful driving skills, but also in the superb customer service you provide.
Take a look at the interactive video below which will provide an introduction to the LGV Driver role at Waitrose:
Our LGV Drivers represent Waitrose & Partners out on the roads. As well as the specific skills needed for the role, our Drivers need to take full ownership and accountability to get the job done and to do so in the most efficient and considerate way possible.
You should ensure that all deliveries are achieved in a timely and safe manner, with an awareness of individual responsibility and health and safety at all times. We’ll expect you to comply with the laws and rules relating to driving an LGV vehicle, as well as continuously striving to deliver outstanding service for our customers.
You’ll need a clean LGV C+E driving licence, previous driving and supermarket experience and knowledge of highway codes to drive our highly recognisable lorries. This includes compliancy with speed limits and Drivers’ hours regulations.
Traits that we look for include flexibility, a positive attitude, being a team player and a great work ethic. You’ll not only be representing us on the roads but also when you meet suppliers and individuals across our 100 branches, so you should be optimistic, approachable and professional.
We have three regional distribution centres across the country in Bracknell and Aylesford. Facilities include several breakout areas where you’ll be able to kick back and relax, and a Partner dining area where you can enjoy delicious fresh food every day.
We offer a breadth of full-time and part-time roles with varying hours, so we advise looking at individual job descriptions to find out more. We also recommend setting up a job alert to keep up to date with the latest LGV driving opportunities, or checking back regularly for more job openings, including seasonal and temporary work.
There’s no limit to how far you can go with Waitrose & Partners – we’ll provide you with all the training and development you’ll need for the role. Some LGV Drivers progress into senior and managerial roles, if this is the direction you would like to go in.
You may decide you want to explore other driving opportunities with us, such as a Customer Delivery Driver or perhaps venturing into other areas such as Distribution and Warehouse.
At the John Lewis Partnership, you’re not just an employee but a co-owner in our business. This means we can offer a huge range of first-class benefits, such as subsidised dining facilities, holiday and leisure facilities, an annual bonus and discounts across all stores.
You’ll find a wide range of temporary, permanent, full time and part time LGV Driver jobs available throughout the UK.
