We operate two Sourcing Offices, one in India and one in Hong Kong. These operate to provide a bridge between our business in the UK and our suppliers in the two areas. Find out more about our India and Hong Kong Sourcing Offices below:
The purpose of the India Sourcing Office (ISO) is to bring the most appropriate products from India to the John Lewis and Waitrose brands, both in terms of innovation, cost, quality and speed. The ISO acts as a bridge between the UK and our supplier base in India to understand, develop, manufacture and ship to JL and WR, all through safe and compliant factories. This was the Partnership’s first overseas office with all local partners who have embraced the Partnership values and added Indian culture and spirit into it, to create the John Lewis “magic”. Our ambition is to establish and grow India as an integral part of the John Lewis supply chain, to help drive margins, and to “wow” the customer with innovative products. Also to give back to the community that helps us achieve success through projects funded by the JL Foundation
Our Hong Kong Sourcing Office will be responsible for sourcing suppliers, factories and raw materials within the Far East. They will monitor, evaluate and work on remediation and continuous improvement of ethical and technical standards in local factories whilst providing support for contract negotiation processes.
The majority of the Partners in the HKSO are merchandisers and technologists. They are supported by compliance, IT, People, Finance and Logistics functions.
