In our Partners, we look for those who are passionate about giving great customer service and are always willing to go one step beyond. Christmas time is fast-paced and dynamic for retail, so you’ll enjoy a variety of tasks whilst working as part of a supportive team.
If successful you’ll be offered a contract which may include weekend, early morning and late night working. You may also have the chance to increase your hours, particularly in the weeks leading up to Christmas. As a Retail Sales Assistant, you’ll be responsible for making sure our customers find what they are looking for. Whether it’s the perfect gift for a loved one or a new TV to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks, you’ll offer assistance and guide our customers throughout the buyer’s journey.

We’ll expect you to have a natural ability for selling and customer service. You should also be warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about our range of products.

Shopping over the busy Christmas period can be hungry work. As a Retail Catering Assistant, you’ll work within our Hospitality offering in our shops. You’ll serve customers with a smile as they refuel for the rest of their day.

We’re very lucky in some of shops that our two treasured brands come together. Waitrose & Partners Foodhalls are small versions of our core stores and are situated inside a John Lewis & Partners shop. We’ll be recruiting for Foodhall Assistants in locations such as Oxford Street and Bluewater.
Our Supermarket Assistants are fundamental to the overall success of our Waitrose & Partners stores. You’ll be the first touchpoint for our customers who need advice, so you should be comfortable offering direction and introducing personalised ideas and new products.

You can only apply for one Seasonal role per John Lewis & Partners shop. However, you will have the opportunity to express your interest in other Seasonal roles in the same shop if you are invited to attend an interview / assessment.

Recruiting for our Seasonal vacancies is a busy time for us in the Partnership. We’ll aim to let you know whether you have been successful or not within 2 weeks of your assessment date. Please regularly check your account on www.jlpjobs.com and your emails for updates.
This will vary between shops and the earliest start dates will be advertised on the vacancy. This would be discussed in more detail at the assessment centre.
At this stage, we do not know our future requirements and this will vary between shops. Should you start in a role with us, you can discuss this with your Line Manager.
Unfortunately, due to the volume of requests we receive we’re unable to provide specific feedback after assessment centres or interviews for our Seasonal vacancies.

The Partnership has a Defined Contribution pension scheme where your contributions will be matched by the Partnership (up to 8% of pay) and, after three years’ service, you’ll receive an additional Partnership contribution of 4% of pay, regardless of whether you pay in or not.
