The catering and hospitality industry experienced a turbulent time during the COVID-19 pandemic. This, alongside a change in labour markets over recent years, has made it a challenging area to recruit for. But the industry is resilient and has bounced back with an incredible boom. Our Café Assistants are the face of our Partnership – acting as ambassadors, delivering an unrivalled experience and serving delicious food to our valued customers. Joining the Partnership as a Café Assistant may just be the start of a budding hospitality and catering career as we offer on-the-job training and investment in related skills – providing progression opportunities and the support you need.

An integral part of the kitchen, our Commis Chef Partners are responsible for the smooth operation – be it for our Place to Eat customer restaurants, one of our hotels or serving and preparing in our Partner dining rooms. Joining the Partnership as a Commis Chef will offer you the chance to climb the first rung of your catering and hospitality career and jump straight into a varied, exciting and fast-paced kitchen – with the opportunity to learn from some of the best kitchen staff in the industry.
You’ll generally find Commis Chefs in most Partnership locations including; shops, head office and distribution sites and our hotels.

For those with experience as a Commis Chef, the step up to a Chef de Partie role may be the one for you. As a Chef de Partie, you may be responsible for a specific station within the kitchen, offering guidance to the Commis Chef while also supporting the Head Chef. As Chef de Partie, you would also be responsible for ensuring that dishes are prepared and cooked on time as well as assisting with recipe and menu development while minimising wastage.
You’ll generally find Chef de Parties in most Partnership locations including; shops, head office and distribution sites and our hotels.

As a Catering Assistant Partner, preparing, cooking and serving food directly to our Partners with a smile is such an influential aspect of their working day. You will join a vibrant and busy catering team that operates behind the scenes in the kitchen and on the frontline in our Partner Dining Rooms (PDRs), engaging and interacting with other Partners – ensuring that the highest standards of catering are maintained at all stages.
You’ll generally find Catering Assistants in head office and distribution sites.
