Management
Being a manager at one of our John Lewis department stores is about being an inspiration to the Partners working in your team. If you’re already an experienced, highly motivated and ambitious supervisor in a commercial environment, you can develop your leadership skills supported by our training programme Horizons and both your line manager and the Personnel team.
This is a tailored programme designed to equip you with the skills you need to be a Department or Section Manager at the country’s most trusted retailer.
Department Managers
Department Managers are responsible for the leadership, customer service and management of either a particular group of selling departments – for example, Beauty and Fashion Accessories – or operational support departments such as Catering, Personnel and Visual Merchandising.
Not only will you be accountable for delivering results, budget-setting and Partner development, you’ll also ensure operational efficiency in line with our Partnership principles. In fact, one of the key markers of your performance will be the results of our annual Partner Survey.
Section Managers
Section Managers play a vital role in supporting our Department Managers. Responsible for the day-to-day running of a particular section of your Department Manager’s area, you could find yourself in charge of the Beauty section, one of our in-store ‘Place to Eat’ restaurants, or responsible for the learning and development of the Partners in your area.
This is a fast-paced role that’s full of variety. Your wide-ranging responsibilities will include developing the Partners who work in your section, achieving set operational standards and ensuring the exceptional levels of service our customers have come to expect.
