The Textiles Production Apprenticeship is a new route into the industry for dynamic people interested in the world of textiles and leather. The types of jobs in this industry are vast, from a sample machinist to a saddler and all roles require thorough specialist knowledge. The Apprenticeship allows apprentices to ’earn and learn’ from people already in industry.

During the apprenticeship, there will be comprehensive on the job training from a team of textile experts, whilst also completing a qualification in Manufacturing Textiles Production within 18 to 24 months – leading to becoming a machine operative on the 7 Day Service that John Lewis offer. The fashion and textiles industry continues to undergo a process of radical change driven by globalisation of production, rapidly changing consumer tastes and increased focus on high value products.  Many fashion and textiles companies producing in the UK are manufacturing high quality goods for niche markets and need multi skilled staff able to produce these goods, whilst meeting quality standards and quantity demand.  This qualification reflects this need and is designed to enhance and develop the skills and knowledge of those who produce textiles products and ensure their skills are recognised and valued throughout the sector.
